Town Board approves tax levy, capital equipment purchases

WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP — The budget, property tax levy and the capital improvement plan for 2018 to 2027 were all approved by the White Bear Town Board during the regular meeting on Dec. 18.
The property tax levy is more than $3.2 million. Residents of White Bear Township approved the levy and budget during a special meeting on Dec. 12.
The budget general fund is more than $4 million.
Some major purchases in the capital improvement plan include emergency generators for town buildings, replacing dump and utility trucks, improvements to Bellaire Beach, replacement of the parking lot at Columbia Park, trail development for the Bruce Vento Trail, south area stormwater improvements and more.
In other action at the Dec. 18 meeting, the board:
•Approved payments for $24,070 to Jeanetta & Sons Excavating for the Hammond Road and White Bear Parkway storm sewer improvements; $43,590 to TMI Coatings Inc. for the northeast water tower painting; and the final payment of $3,925 to Bell’s Trucking Inc. for Barry Lane Pond improvements.
•Approved six liquor license renewals for Applebee’s, Zen Asia, Cub Foods, Bald Eagle Liquor, Orchid Restaurant & Bar and Lucy’s Burgers LLC.
•Approved four tobacco license renewals for White Bear Township Holiday, Cub Foods, Holiday Stationstores and Bald Eagle Investments.
•Approved the purchase of a fuel management system for more than $13,900 with funding from the capital building fund.
•Approved the consent agenda, which included an auditor contract, a utility connection charge, a right of way permit and a construction activity report.
