WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP — The city of White Bear Lake and White Bear Township will work together on Centerville Road improvements.

The White Bear Town Board approved a cooperative agreement with the city during a regular meeting on April 16.

Ramsey County is requiring that improvements be done to the road, such as extending a median and adding a traffic signal but will not be able to manage the project. The city agreed to assume that management role. The county will also fund part of the median, but not the traffic signal.

The cost of a northbound lane, also approved by the county, would be financed by the developer. Should the town decide to contribute financially, one of the methods would be to assess business and property owners affected by the improvements. The city will conduct an appraisal for affected properties.

The city will hold a public hearing for the project on April 24 and the town will hold a public hearing on May 7.

In other action at the April 16 meeting, the board:

• Heard the first-quarter construction report. The town had issued three single-family permits by this date in 2017, but has issued four this year. Last year at this same time, the revenue for permits was $13,647; this year, it’s $34,774.

• Held 10 three-dog license renewal hearings. All were approved.

• Continued a motion to replace a public works pickup truck in the amount of $29,745 from Tenvoorde Ford with funding from the capital equipment fund.

• Approved the replacement of a utility truck chassis in the amount of $41,718 from Tenvoorde Ford with funding from the capital equipment fund.

• Authorized replacement of a four-wheel drive mower in the amount of $47,488 from MTI Distributing using the previous mower as a trade-in. Funding will come from the capital equipment fund.

• Approved the resignation of public works maintenance worker Reed Walstad, effective July 2. The town will advertise for his replacement beginning April 23.

• Authorized plans, specifications and an appraisal to determine park dedication fees for the Cambridge Downs development.
