Friendship Church will offer a number of free services during an Acts of Friendship Day on Sunday, Aug. 20, at its Shakopee campus.
"It's our way to get out into the community and to serve people and to meet their needs where they're at," Communications Director Sue Jacob said.
People can get free haircuts, financial planning, sewing and mending, wellness classes, photo sessions, oil changes, computer services and furnace and air conditioning checks from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"We have a committee that finds different needs that they hear about in the community, if someone needs help with their home, that type of thing and we also do services," Jacob said.
Most of the services will be provided at 12800 Marystown Road, with the exception of the oil changes and furnace and air conditioning checks. Most require some kind of pre-registration online, which can be found at www.friendshipmn.org, which also has contacts for more information.
"We believe in Jesus Christ and we want to serve as he serves," Jacob said. "We want to show love to people and care to people and just serve as best we can and bring joy."
