WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP — A lighting manufacturer, aspectLED, is likely moving to the township.
The Arden Hills-based subsidiary of Wilson Tool Enterprises will move to Constellation Drive and company representatives want to show off their products — in the form of a LED sign on the freeway.
The White Bear Town Board heard from the company on a possible variance for the sign during the regular meeting Dec. 4.
The town has a requirement that a sign be under 100 square feet.
The proposed sign would be 12 feet tall and 25 feet wide and would “allow us to install and show off one of our digital signs, as well as to utilize the sign for recruiting talent, and promoting our other products,” Wilson Tool Enterprises Corporate Development President Paul Johnson wrote in a letter to the township.
Johnson also said the company has plans to have “aggressive hiring” over the next few years.
Another conversation about the sign will take place at the board’s next executive meeting.
In other action at the Dec. 4 meeting, the board:
• Scheduled a public hearing for a three-dog license for 1651 Garden Lane for Jan. 3 at 7:10 p.m. Amy Chester had come to the board before and received a license renewal with conditions, some of which included that she install plats in her fencing so the dogs wouldn’t bark and that one dog would be relocated.
• Approved the consent agenda, which included calling a special meeting so the board could attend a training session on active shooters, designated polling places for the 2018 state primary and state general election, and more.
