The former Shakopee City Hall was demolished on Monday and Tuesday.
Frattalone Companies, which tore down the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, submitted the winning bid of $191,800 for the abatement, demolition and earthwork of the building in downtown Shakopee.
The city is accepting redevelopment proposals for the site until Jan. 5 for the city hall property and riverfront property also owned by the city. Staff will review the proposals and bring the highest-scoring proposal to the council for consideration.
The building originally opened as a First National Bank in 1958, which later became Marquette Bank. In 1993, the city moved to the building for the third location of city hall, according to a Shakopee Heritage Society post written by David Schleper.
The city moved into the current location of the city hall on Gorman Street in August.
