More than 1,000 dogs showed up at Canterbury Park on Saturday and Sunday for the 84th Minneapolis Kennel Club Dog Show.

Breeds from Affenpinschers to Yorkshire Terriers competed in the show, which has been running since 1934. They were all good dogs.

Dogs were judged within categories — sporting, nonsporting, terrier, working, hound, toy and herding — to move on to the coveted Best in Show competition.

Competitions ran from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days and included owner-handled, professionally handled and junior-handled categories.

Competitors came from across the United States to show their dogs, Minneapolis Kennel Club Chairman Ralph Hogancamp said.

“They come from all over, there’s people here from far and wide and as far away as 1,000 miles,” Hogancamp said. “They’ll follow a judge so they can put another win on their dog.”

About 30 vendors joined the paw-ty as well.
