A 68-unit apartment complex for workforce housing in Prior Lake is now open.
The apartment complex, Pike Lake Marsh, held a grand opening on Monday for the building. Of the 68 units, 66 are full and the last two are expected to be filled soon.
The building, which is on Pike Lake Trail, was built by Ron Clark Construction & Design and will be managed by Steven Scott Management.
“Prior Lake is a great place to have a workforce housing complex,” Ron Clark Construction & Design COO Mike Waldo said at the grand opening. “You won’t find many apartments that have the views, amenities and walking trails we do.”
The three-story building, which overlooks Pike Lake in Prior Lake, was funded by the Scott County Community Development Agency.
The developers had applied for tax increment financing through the city of Prior Lake, but that request was denied by the Prior Lake City Council in April 2017. The Minnesota Housing Finance Agency gave the project more than $1 million in tax credits for the project.
The apartment complex has one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, each with balconies and a washer and dryer in unit. Other amenities include heated underground parking, a fitness center, a playground, community room, some utilities included in the rent and more.
“It’s great to see 68 units of workforce housing in Prior Lake, a growing community that needs it,” Minnesota Housing Commissioner Wes Butler said.
The complex has income guidelines to be able to live in the building ranging from one occupant needing to make less than $39,660 annually to six occupants needing to make less than $65,640 annually.
