Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for the most recent season of ABC’s “The Bachelor.” Don’t say you weren’t warned.
This week’s episode is a long one for fans of Prior Lake’s Becca Kufrin because after the glory of the one-on-one in the last episode, we are back to the monotonous montage of girls who aren’t from Minnesota vying for the attention of bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr.
Though Kufrin does make some appearances, so fear not, Kufrans (Kufrin fans).
The episode features two group dates and one one-on-one date and thankfully for Kufrin, she was on the second group date — this means she got to play with puppies, instead of dressing as a lizard creature in a wedding dress (Bridezilla, apparently) and wrestling a fellow contestant.
Kufrin and a few other girls spent the group date in a park planning a circus-themed dog show that included Luyendyk’s own dog. Viewers got to see the girls attempt the tricks on stage with an audience of primarily children. Though the shots of the practice session had seemed pretty good, the dogs apparently weren’t interested when it came to crunch time.
The group date moved to a more romantic setting later that evening and Kufrin stole some private time with Luyendyk.
“I really want you here today because I missed you,” Luyendyk said.
Kufrin told Luyendyk again that she has feelings for him.
“Today was weird, I’m not going to lie,” Kufrin said. “I think it was more so me being like ‘I kind of have these feelings’ and I didn’t think I’d feel this way so early on.”
There is some more playful banter where Kufrin tells Luyendyk he’s a “bit of a dork” and he tells her she looks “really good in yoga pants.” There’s also quite a bit of kissing. Moving on.
“I’m so happy,” Kufrin said. “I’m so content right now. I feel super confident with Arie — I’m falling for him.”
In a strange turn of events from last week, Kufrin said she hopes to get the group date rose and Chelsea gets it instead.
Kufrin receives a rose at the end of the episode, meaning we’ll see her in week four. This is impressive, considering Luyendyk is sending girls home left and right if he doesn’t feel that “chemistry” with them.
Lauren S., who went on the one-on-one date to a vineyard and said “The date card said ‘you had me at Merlot,’ I think it has to do with wine!” was sent home. Annaliese, who was one of the few girls to not kiss Luyendyk and who has traumatic bumper car and dog memories, was sent home right before the rose ceremony.
This only left Bibiana to be eliminated during the rose ceremony, which was especially disappointing because she had the best quote of the episode: “The Devil is working OT, man.”
As for Kufrin, she’s still feeling confident moving forward.
“I really think what we have right now is really good,” Kufrin said. “I feel like it’s starting to feel really real.”
