Kufrans, it’s almost time — Prior Lake native Becca Kufrin will return to our television screens as the titular lead of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” at 7 p.m. May 28 for a two-hour premiere.

Kufrin graduated from Prior Lake High School in 2008 before attending Minnesota State University in Mankato where she earned a degree in mass communications. She currently works as a public relations specialist in the Twin Cities area.

We last saw Kufrin in March. She competed on the latest season of “The Bachelor” as one of the contestants vying for the affection of and proposal to race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Luyendyk Jr. sent finalist Lauren Burnham packing to propose to Kufrin in the mountains of Peru — before changing his mind and getting back together with Burnham. He then proposed to Burnham at a live taping of “After The Final Rose.”

To summarize, not only did he break up with Kufrin on national television, he then proposed to the woman he broke up with Kufrin for at a live show that Kufrin was at. A Minnesota lawmaker even proposed to ban him from the state.

But he’s no longer relevant. It’s Kufrin time.

According to ABC’s news release on the upcoming season, Kufrin can thank her “strong willpower and a firm set of Midwest values” for being able to attempt another shot at love on national television. But this time, it’s “on her terms and forever.”

In the video promos for the season, Kufrin wears a glittering gold dress in front of glittering gold letters that spell out “independent woman.” In still images, her catchphrase of “Let’s do the damn thing” is superimposed over her.

In a few short months, the general public will know the journey that Kufrin has gone through over the past few weeks and see who she has chosen to become her fiancé. Or, they could head to television blogger Reality Steve’s Twitter, as his whole “thing” is spoiling “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” before it airs. And digging up dirt on contestants.

As with the last season, Southwest News Media will recap the episodes for your entertainment but if you’re a true Kufran, you can tune in May 28.
