As the weather warms, residents can look forward to heading to one of their favorite restaurants to enjoy the sunshine and maybe a cold drink.

Soon, Teresa's Mexican Restaurant will be able to join that list.

The Prior Lake Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit on Feb. 26 that would allow outdoor seating at Teresa's Mexican Restaurant, located near Lower Prior Lake.

"I think it's a nice addition to Prior Lake," Planning Commission member William Kallberg said. "My wife and I frequently look for somewhere that has an outside area on a sunny summer day."

The restaurant would add 600 square feet to construct an outdoor seating patio, enclosed with a fence. The tables would have umbrellas but otherwise the patio would be open.

"I think it's a good use of the space and it seems like a logical addition," planning Commission member Dave Tieman said.

The restaurant has been open for more than five years.
