Prior Lake Mayor Kirt Briggs names July 'Park and Recreation Month'

Following a move of the United States House of Representatives, Prior Lake Mayor Kirt Briggs has named July 2018 as "Park and Recreation Month" in Prior Lake.

Briggs made the announcement with Park and Recreation staff outside of Club Prior on Tuesday.

"It's so important here in our community to not only encourage folks to come outside and enjoy all the wonderful recreational activities, but also all the employees that make that possible," Briggs said.

The U.S. House of Representatives introduced a resolution in June to "celebrate federal, state and local public park and recreation systems," according to a news release.

The city's resolution states that "parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community and provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors."
