More home construction is coming to Prior Lake.

Prior Lake City Council approved two different subdivision preliminary plats and planned unit developments during a regular meeting on Monday night.

The first subdivision would be known as Majestic and would consist of 20 homes across nearly eight acres north of County Road 82, west of County Road 21 and east of Majestic Lane.

“This was great work on behalf of a number of committees,” Mayor Kirt Briggs said.

The existing home and road access located at the site is proposed for removal. The site is zoned low-density residential. Some residents had spoken during the public hearing in front of the planning commission expressing concerns about the traffic.

“I did have a concern about the lights from the cars washing the townhouses, so I’m glad to see it was better addressed,” Councilor Zach Braid said.

The second subdivision would be known as Parkhaven and would consist of 55 homes across nearly 45 acres north of County Road 42, east of County Road 21 and west of Pike Lake.

“I just want to say, what a great place to live,” Councilor Annette Thompson said. “That’s gonna be awesome. Living with nature, I love that.”

The lots would range from 8,400 square feet all the way up to 19,000 square feet. That site is also zoned as low-density residential.

The development would have through streets to a nearby commercial development.

“The intention there is to provide that commercial development as an amenity for that area,” Briggs said. “What we see before us is really a labor of over 12 months on behalf of the developer, staff.”

No residents spoke about either of the developments during the meeting.
