Mystic Lake Casino will host a pop-up night club for Super Bowl

Mystic Lake Casino Hotel announced Tuesday morning it will be the site of a pop-up entertainment venue during the upcoming Super Bowl in February.

“I am thrilled to share the news that the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Mystic Lake Hotel Casino will be the site of Club Nomadic in 2018,” Angela Heikes, president and CEO of the SMSC’s Gaming Enterprise, said.

The three-story Club Nomadic is a traveling night life experience that can hold up to 9,000 people and appears in communities where professional football is played, according to organizers. The club will be open from Feb. 1-4, arriving before the Super Bowl begins and leaving town once it’s over.

“There are certainly going to be lots of memories made,” Jack Murphy, president of Club Nomadic Entertainment Group said. “The level of stardom you’re going to see take stage will be remarkable.”

The club promises “four star-studded nights,” according to a news release from Mystic Lake and Nomadic Entertainment Group.

Event organizers did not say who will be performing at the event, but past performers at Club Nomadic in other cities have included entertainers like Taylor Swift, The Chainsmokers, Bruno Mars, the Dave Matthews Band, Pharrel Williams and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others.

Murphy said the word “experience” is often overused and the Super Bowl used to be a very corporate, commercialized event. He added it’s important to treat customers with a “white glove experience,” meaning the second they walk through the door of the club they’re given attention.

Construction on Club Nomadic will begin soon; trucks full of equipment for the club were scheduled to be unloaded Tuesday. The 64,000-square-foot building, built with tiered mezzanines, can hold up to 9,000 guests. Construction on the project is expected to reach completion sometime in December.

“We have learned that there is demand for these kinds of experiences around major, culture-altering events and believe the Twin Cities will enthusiastically support both venues,” said Murphy. “With Mystic Lake, we are looking at creative and technological ways to connect both venues and performances to give fans the ultimate entertainment experience.”

Other endeavors

The hotel is currently undergoing another expansion ahead of the upcoming football game. The new addition, which will be known as Mystic Lake Center, will be a 70,000-square-foot meeting and event space, with a nine-story, 180-room hotel tower. Completion of the project would bring the hotel’s total to 766 rooms.

Construction, overseen by Burnsville-based PCL Construction Services Inc., started in the spring of 2016, and should be completed later this year or in early 2018. The expansion is intended to reach completion well in time for the 2018 Super Bowl, which will take place Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
