A 42-year-old Prior Lake woman sustained non life-threatening injuries after a crash on Highway 13 and 170th Street on Tuesday, June 10 a little after 6 p.m.

The woman was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Highway 13. Another driver, a 38-year-old Prior Lake woman in a Kia Sorento, was attempting to turn north onto Highway 13 from 170th Street.

The Kia Sorento pulled into the south lanes of Highway 13 in front of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist flung the bike on its side to attempt to avoid a collision but did collide with the passenger side of the vehicle, according to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report.

The woman driving the motorcycle was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The intersection will receive a traffic signal by spring 2019 in conjunction with the County Road 21 reconstruction in Prior Lake. A petition calling for a traffic signal at the intersection received more than 800 supporters in 2017 after a fatal crash on the road.

Prior Lake Mayor Kirt Briggs said on Facebook that the city of Prior Lake, Scott County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are working together to come up with a solution for the intersection ahead of the traffic signal installation.

Scott County announced on Facebook on Wednesday, July 11 that additional signs and traffic markings will be put up to alert drivers to watch for vehicles entering traffic.
