How did Prior Lake vote overall in Tuesday's primary?

Many Prior Lake residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote in the primary election, which whittled candidate pools to determine who will face off in the November general election.
For the U.S. Senator and special U.S. Senator elections, Prior Lake chose Republican Jim Newberger with 1,085 votes while Republican Karin Housley was tapped for the special election, with 1,037 votes. On the Democratic side, Prior Lake mirrored the state and overwhelmingly chose Amy Klobuchar to move on to the general election with 1,767 votes. For the special election, Democrats tapped Tina Smith with more than 1,329 votes.
As for the governor and liuetenant governor primaries, Jeff Johnson and Donna Bergstrom on the GOP side will move on to face Tim Walz and Peggy Flanagan from the DFL in November. This was reflected in Prior Lake’s vote, with 896 votes for Johnson and 894 for Walz. Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty was just behind Johnson in Prior Lake with 755 votes.
For attorney general, Republicans in Prior Lake tapped Doug Wardlow, while Democrats in Prior Lake selected Keith Ellison. This was reflected in the state level as well and the two will face off in the general election.
As for the Scott County Sheriff primary, which is a nonpartisan election, Prior Lake residents mirrored the county and gave the most votes to Sheriff Luke Hennen and Jason Arras with 1,486 and 1,016 votes, respectively. Hennen and Arras will be on the ballot in November.
