The annual Fall Community Fest for Prior Lake and Savage is returning for its 33rd year — this time with food trucks.

The community fest, which will be at Prior Lake High School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 17, showcases local businesses and organizations in Prior Lake and Savage.

“It’s a free event that allows both newcomers to the community as well as longtime residents to learn more about our businesses, nonprofits and other organizations, as well as school district organizations,” Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Community Involvement Coordinator Jenny Nagy said.

The festival is put on by the district, the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Savage Chamber of Commerce.

In 2018, the festival will feature more than 200 businesses and nonprofits — more than 40 of which are new additions to the festival — and is expected to see 3,000 to 4,000 people, Nagy said.

Food trucks are a new addition to the 2018 Fall Community Fest.

“We will have some food options inside, but we will also have food trucks outside,” Nagy said.

The Prior Lake WindJammers will provide music to attendees inside the building and the middle school band will play music outside. As in past years, there will be a scavenger hunt for those who attend.

“It keeps families and kids moving throughout the event,” Nagy said.

The Prior Lake police and fire departments and the Savage police and fire departments will also attend the event — along with emergency vehicles for children to check out.

“You will definitely see new people, but you will also talk to the people who come to the event every year,” Nagy said. “It gives you another reason to come into the high school and take a look around. It gives everyone a chance to come together and see what’s going on in the community in one stop.”
