Early Monday robbery reported on Duluth Avenue

The Prior Lake Police Department is investigating a robbery that allegedly took place early Monday morning in the 16800 block of Duluth Avenue.

Prior Lake Police Chief Mark Elliott said the victim met an acquaintance in the victim's car shortly before 5 a.m. on Monday. The victim told police the acquaintance then demanded money from the victim.

The suspect then pulled out a gun and hit the victim in the face. The victim fled on foot from the scene and called police. The victim told police the suspect had stolen the car and fled.

Prior Lake police officers were able to locate the car and the gun. The victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries and released the same day.

The incident is under investigation.
