Residents of a multi-family building in the 4800 block of Bluff Heights Trail in Prior Lake were displaced after a fire broke out in the building around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The American Red Cross is providing the 12 residents with emergency housing due to smoke and water damage in the building.
The Prior Lake Fire Department was called to a report of smoke coming from the roof of the building. Prior Lake Fire Chief Rick Steinhaus said there was a fire in a second-floor unit.
The Prior Lake Police Department, Mdewakanton Public Safety, the Savage Fire Department, the Shakopee Fire Department, the American Red Cross and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal also responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
All the residents in the building were safely evacuated and there were no injuries. The fire was out 20 minutes after the first responding emergency services had arrived. All four units of the building have smoke and water damage and one unit had fire damage.
The attic also had moderate fire damage, Steinhaus said.
